Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority EMS Division First in Alberta to Implement LIFEPAK 35 Monitors/Defibrillators
Bonnyville, AB – September 2, 2025 – The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) is proud to announce the implementation of new LIFEPAK 35 monitor/defibrillators across its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division. BRFA is the first EMS provider in Alberta – and among the first in Canada – to adopt this next generation of critical care technology, underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care.
The LIFEPAK 35 is the next generation of critical care technology, providing Paramedics with features including advanced cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, cardiac pacing, and real-time data transmission, these units will further support BRFA paramedics in delivering high-quality, lifesaving care.
“This milestone demonstrates BRFA’s leadership in advancing pre-hospital emergency care,” said Alicia Krawchuk, Regional Chief of Emergency Services. “Being the first EMS organization in Alberta to implement the LIFEPAK 35 reflects our commitment to ensuring our paramedics have the very best tools to save lives when every second counts.”
Replacing older models currently in service, the LIFEPAK 35 units introduce improved usability, durability, and compatibility with hospital systems. This will allow for seamless transition of patient information between EMS and hospital emergency departments, improving continuity of care.

The rollout of the new devices is part of BRFA’s ongoing modernization plan to align with best practices in emergency medical care and to ensure readiness for the increasing demands of the region’s growing population.
